Finishing my boudoir
R went back to Donich Lodge today having managed to demolish the hideous wardrobe in the room which is going to be his office. This was another example of rather unusual DIY skills as the top of this monstrosity was held on by no less that 15 screws, all of different sizes. Between the three of us we dragged the (extremely heavy) pieces of it into the now demolished bathroom ready for collection. After R had gone, I realized that he had forgotten not only some pictures he was supposed to be taking back for our buyers, but also the pizzas he had bought to sustain him for his last two days in the now empty house.
I formally gave J the day off today as he has been working very hard (by his own standards anyway), and I went and finished off my bedroom. After all my ideas about making it a peacock room, or something with a Japanese theme, it has ended up being a real lady’s boudoir in pale greens and pinks. I was not sure I liked this idea at the start, but it has grown on me and today I was really quite proud of it. The Little Green paint I bought matched the original so perfectly that you can hardly see the joins, and an artful row of pictures conceals the line where the old paper meets the new.
Anyone who looked at it and new me would say that it is not my style, but I have to say that it is by far the nicest bedroom I have had in my entire life.
