Some useless lawyers

Now two days before we are due to complete on the Donich Lodge sale, and we have heard nothing more from our solicitors.  I rang ours to discover that theirs had not put in the formal deposition document which needs to be in place for funds to be released.  After a bit of chasing and further “illegal” contact with our buyer, we managed to get them to send the document over, but it is now so late in the day that we can’t trust the Royal mail to get it to the solicitor for Wednesday.  Of course, they can’t do anything sensible like accept a scanned copy by email, so R is going to have to drop it off at their offices on his way back to LGH on Tuesday.

You honestly couldn’t make the systems for selling property in both Scotland and England up.  They are archaic, cumbersome, error prone and seemingly designed entirely to make money for as many solicitors as can pack in around the trough.  The government should reform it, but doubtless won’t as they get their share of the swill too.

J and I went over to the furniture warehouse again and bought a rather nice display cabinet.  Ultimately this is going to hold the army of French Napoleonic wargames figures which J painted as a boy – but for now we have put some overspill china into it.
