Builders and plumbers and herbs and fish

Today we simultaneously had builders and plumbers in working on our new bathroom.  The noise was something awful in my office, so I retreated to the garden, at which point it promptly began to rain.

I have now catalogued most of the plants in the garden – less of them turned out to be weeds than I had thought in the first instance – and we have well over 100 different species.  I have to laugh because having bought potted herbs to make a herb garden – I discovered that there already were herbs all over the place.  Oregano, thyme of various varieties, a huge rosemary bush and lots of others.  There were no annuals (or any of the biennial parsley) so they obviously let this go over the last couple of years.

The other event today was the fish van which comes from Pitenween (a beautiful and famous fishing village not far from here).  They had a super lovely selection of fish, plus local asparagus, samphire and strawberries.  There was artisan bread too (I didn’t bother with this as I make all my own).  I got some nice cod, salmon fillets, crab and strawberries.  Not cheap but all looks very nice.  I am about to try the crab now.
