700 Litres
Earlier this week we took a car load of garden rubbish to the local tip. The one in Cupar is bookings only (you can see why because there are only three parking spaces) but it is very easy to book. We had all the weeds packed into black bin bags which was an inefficient way of doing things – but we noticed that another couple had some heavy duty reusable sacks. I bought some of these in various sizes – together they have a capacity of 700 litres.
Well believe it or not – today I filled the entire set of bags with weeds. This was working entirely alone.
Well not entirely alone as you will see from the picture. Saphy gave me a lot of moral encouragement all afternoon.
Actually I found some interesting things including a secret pond which was so overgrown that it was completely invisible – in fact I nearly fell right into it. I also found a plum tree (I love plums).
This clematis was growing all over a dead fir tree – I think it had suffocated it. I will need to find a way of cutting the old tree back and then isolating the clematis so that it can’t spread any further.
One thing I am going to try in this garden is growing a peach tree. We have a south facing wall and the garden is really sunny so perhaps I will be able to make a success of this – it has always been an ambition of mine.
