They are domestic cats
I’m a bit of a cat lady, and also a fan of the Victorian period (both of which are probably pretty obvious).
So for amusement, I wrote a little parody of “For he is an Englishman” from HMS Pinafore. The joke behind this one as that we now have two “domestic shorthairs” aka moggies, whereas our previous two cats were pedigree snow Bengals. We wondered if cats could be fiercely proud of their breeding the way humans (stupidly in my view) are.
This is the text
She is a black furred cat
Domestic short haired cat
For all can clearly see it
And she’s very proud to be it
She is a black furred cat
She might have been a Burmese
A Persian or a Siamese
Or perhaps
An Occicat
But in spite of what we clearly see
That she really has no pedigree
She remains a black furred cat
A domestic moggie
Amber eyed and black furred cat.
She is a tabby cat
Domestic short haired cat
For she herself has proved it
And she doesn’t want to lose it
For she is a tabby cat.
She might have been a Bengal
A Chinchilla, Manx or Ragdoll
Or perhaps
A Turkish Van
But in spite of all temptation
To perform a fur migration
She remains a tabby cat
A domestic shorthaired
White chinned green eyed tabby cat
