Stirling today

We went on a trip to Stirling today. With one thing and another and having every tradesman (and woman as our plumbers are female) in Cupar round at the house, I haven’t been on any of the trips I promised myself when we moved.

The castle was great – I have only been once before and that was many years ago.

There were some smashing views.

And nice gardens

Here is me in the queen’s room – very appropriate really

Then we went to a rather indifferent and expensive restaurant for lunch, followed by a visit to Holy Rude Church (I thought the “Rude” was a misspelling of “Rood”) but apparently not.

The good news was that I thought all of this might have pained my foot, and that I would not have been able to do all the steps at the castle – plus Stirling must be the world capital for cobblestones, but in fact I had no trouble at all. Walked miles, up and down stairs, over rough terrain, everything. I think these things take longer to fully heal than you think they would – oddly it is exactly a year to the day since I had the operation! It says something for modern medicine and the skill of the surgeon that I am almost completely back to normal, when I think that before the operation I could hardly walk.
