Bread and Soup
Yesterday I made some bread. The ingredients for it are flour, salt and yeast. Today it is a bit hard but ok for toast. Tomorrow it will be so hard as to be inedible.
Last week (6 days ago to be exact) I bought a white sliced loaf from the supermarket (for breadcrumbs for sage and onion stuffing). The ingredients for it included several things that sound as they belong in a chemistry lab – today it is as “fresh” as the day I bought it, and I suspect it will last another five days.
I know which I will be eating.

To go with my homemade bread I made some soup with the leftover chicken from yesterday. I actually followed my Gran’s recipe for this – she lived in Dumbarton and we always went through there for Easter. When we walked through the door we always got this soup which is made from chicken, onion, rice and parsley. I loved it, and the smell of it always brings back happy memories.
