Finished the decorating

I managed to decorate the wall in the drawing room.  That may not sound like much of an achievement, but the ceilings in here are so high that to put the wallpaper up, I had to stand on the top rung of an 8 step decorating ladder, and then let go of it with both hands to press the paper on to the wall and then smooth it out.  Then primer, top coat, and possibly the worst part, once it was dry, trimming the excess from the very highest point with a Stanley knife and a steel rule.  This was all a bit scary.

But it is done, and under the circumstances I think I made not too bad a job of it.

I am glad to see the back of it for now – next year I need to revisit it and think what to do about the rest of the room.  The remaining walls are in good condition, so I think I will just paint them rather than stripping and repapering them.

Anyway, tomorrow I will put our artificial tree up – we have a real one coming this week as well, but I’m not sure exactly when.
