Fake Art
When we first moved in here we had quite a lot of Victorian paintings we had inherited. In fact we had so many that when they were piled up against the wall we thought we would never have space for them. But when we had them hung, we started to to realize the sheer scale of Castlebank House because the walls still looked empty. But all was well, because we also had loads that had been at Donich Lodge (a substantial six bedroomed bungalow) – these were largely watercolours painted by my very talented Mum. So we hung these as well, and the walls still were not filled.
So starting to feel a bit desperate we hung up loads of other things. Bad paintings by me. Photographs of our families. Certificates for completion of the Camino. Old silk prints we bought on a holiday in India years ago. And still the walls were not filled.
To cut a long story short, eventually to cover all the walls I had to cheat. I bought some cheap frames from Amazon, and used AI to create some “Victorian” pictures. I printed these on my colour laser and hung them. To be completely honest, I think they look great – for example.
This is a Victorian original I used as the sample for the AI

These are two similar pictures he (or she? or it?) created based on it.

Here is some of the paintings hung in the drawing room.

Of course they don’t bear close examination, particularly as the printer has decided not to cope with art paper anymore, but at a casual glance they are fine. Anyway, they are a lot better than nothing.
