A blanket from the past
While I was cleaning out J’s flat last year, I found this blanket. It had accidentally got stuck into the garage here when we moved in last June and I only just found it when clearing it today.
I don’t know how J ended up with it, but this was my blanket as a child – I used to play with it along with my toys, and one of my favourite occupations was tying knots in the long tassels of its fringe. I hung it on the line outside, and assessed whether it needed dry cleaned or whether I could get away with hand washing it. I was somewhat surprised to see that it showed no signs of dirt.

So I brought it in and reunited it with Big Ted and Koala.

I noticed that 50 years on, one of the knots was still tied in the fringe.

Another little incident while garage cleaning was that I temporarily put a rug outside whilst I swept the floor. When I came back five minutes later Saphy had colonized it.
