Clearing the garage
Today I finally finished clearing the garage. All the stuff we brought with us (10 months ago now) has been either put in its correct place, given away or binned/recycled. This was a big job – there were times last year when you could hardly get in through the doors for old furniture, new bathroom suites and piles of boxes. But now it is clear and you can see what a huge space it is.

There is now room for at least two cars – and we do in fact have two cars, both of which are sitting in the drive. I asked R whether he wanted to put his in there. His response was no, but I could put mine in if I liked. After due consideration, I decided that it would be too much trouble in the summer, but I might come winter. So now we have a lovely empty garage – perhaps we should buy a boat.
For another task today, I finished getting all the dead leaves and excess pond weed out of all our three ponds, and then filled them up with water. I have some pond cleaner (the eco stuff which is not harmful to wildlife) and tomorrow I will put that in to clear the water a bit. While I was fishing the weeds out, I came across a little black box under water. It was attached to a wire and I presumed it was an old light. I put it on the side of the pond for further investigation, and all of a sudden it started to make a funny whirring noise. Looking at it more closely, I saw it was attached to a small solar panel, so I put it back upright in the water, where upon it started to spout (well trickle) water – a mini solar fountain. It was quite entertaining watching it stop and start as the clouds moved over the sun.
While I was doing all of this, Saphy was observing me from under our glorious camellia tree.

Tomorrow I will paint the garage doors.
