A nice lunch and some cuteness
I went out for a very nice vegetarian lunch at a friend’s house today. I was the only non-vegetarian there, and I must say that if I could have had the nice light food we had today, I would do better with vegetarianism than I have in the past. My trouble is that as R detests tofu and eggs and is not fond of salads and fruit, and I don’t like “fake meat” of any sort – all my vegetarian food (tasty as it is) tends to be heavy on cheese and dairy in general (things like lasagne and macaroni cheese) – so that after a few days I feel bloated and heavy. So I will stick with eating meat and fish (although not every day or generally in huge quantities). Also my cheese filled food is not good for J who is supposed to be trying to lose weight.
Anyway, we had a nice chat about a wide range of subjects from decorating to Buddhism and then went for a walk by the river. While I was away I was hoping that the people who were supposed to be fixing my patio steps would have turned up – but they haven’t. The bricks all along the bottom course are coming away, and based on past experience laying the foundations and then getting the mortaring right is beyond me, so I am going to try to get the professionals in.

On my return, R showed me a most amusing sight. Saphy, who normally just likes sleeping on bags, had decided to sleep in one.

I was hugely tempted to pick the rucksack up to see what she would do, but I managed to resist the impulse.
