Cupar Flower and Craft Show
Show day started at 5:15 am with bagging up the more fragile baking. It did not help that when I switched on the light in the hall downstairs, a bulb went and tripped the breaker, plunging the hall and kitchen into darkness. I did not want to disturb J (one annoying feature of this house is that the fuse box is in his office), so I had to plug a lamp in in the kitchen – not the best environment for icing cakes. During this process, both cats got very excited at the change of routine, and started a major attack of the zoomies all over the house.
Looking on the bright side, this woke J up, so all three of us took the stuff to the show. It was quite an affair with 100s of exhibitors showing everything from giant leeks to dahlias, and cacti, to wine, jams, needlework and of course bakery of all sorts. And every age of contestant from 5 to over 80.

I am on the committee, so I spent my morning collecting entrance fees and most of my afternoon serving coffee, but I managed to have a good look round. There were some truly wonderful pieces of skill – I thought some of the children were particularly talented.

By the time the prize giving was over, I was about to fall off my feet. At times today I thought I had taken on too much, but by the time we were walking home I was already turning it into “type 2 fun” – this is the sort of fun you only realized you had after it is over.
