Starting on the Games Room
All three of us have been keen game players since we were in our teens (a long old time ago now). By games I mean mainly RPGs (like Dungeons and Dragons) but also board games (like Advanced Civilization) and wargames with traditional metal miniature figures. We used to belong to clubs and create our own groups where ever we lived. Unfortunately, this all came to an end when we lived in Lochgoilhead as there weren’t enough people there to make a group. Then there were just four of us and it was really too far and too difficult to travel to play, so we stopped the “real life” games and just played DDO (Dungeons and Dragons online – the computer version of DDO).
But one of the ideas when we moved back to civilization was to get our piles and piles of gaming stuff out of the boxes it had been stored in for decades, make a proper room for it, and then hopefully get a group of people who would like to play together.
Castlebank has an extensive basement (mostly populated by J) and we are turning one of the rooms into a proper games room – hopefully with a Victorian Gothic touch. Yesterday I made a start on it – I bought a big black kalax and unpacked some of the boxes on to it.
This is about half the stuff – there are more games and many, many figures.
These are the cardboard boxes I unpacked the games from.
