Decorating the bathroom
I am now finally able to decorate the bathroom and unpack the last of the boxes which have been on the landing for the last three months.
Today I filled in a load of holes down the back of the skirtings and in the door frame. I primed all of this plus the shutters and all the rest of the window furniture, plus the boxed in area around the loo. Unfortunately although the shutters are functional (in that they would open and close) they can’t be used because the 1930s cast iron radiator is in the way. The only solution to this would be to replace the radiator with a modern slimline one, but I am not going to do that. The shutters may be more authentically Victorian, but the 1930s heating system is part of the living history of the house itself. Also the radiators look nice. Also we may be in need of a super hot radiator in the bathroom come winter as it is a big room with big single glazed windows. Also we need to restrain our spending.

Tomorrow I will remove the masking tape, paint the radiator itself and hang some ornamental tiles.
That will be the bathroom done, and the last really major project we started in early June completed.
