Renovation

Moving some projects forward

Today I have been working on both reupholstering the chair, and finalizing the new improved cat door.

The frame seems moderately secure now. I cut a piece of dark red velvet out of an old curtain for the seat and pinned it in place. Once I had checked that it was going to fit, I removed it to repair the hole in the actual upholstery. I ran into a bit of an obstacle though.

You can see the hole right through to the upholstery right in front of Saphy.

Anyway – I really wanted to get it finished today, but unfortunately many of the old tacks I took out cannot be reused, either because I bent them taking them out, or because they are blunt (or in some cases, both). So I have ordered more and hopefully will finish it tomorrow. I also got some new braid to trim the seat (and probably to hide a multitude of less than expertly inserted tacks!)

I also did more on the cat door. The whole thing is attached to the door now (R had to help me as it was really a two person job), I just have the lock to attach and give it another coat of paint. I would have taken a photo, but by this time of night the cats are confined to barracks and the temporary box is in place.
