Cat Door Mark 2 – the saga continueth….
So after the failure of the first cat door (failure as a means of keeping Saphy in at night that is – it looked nice), I built another one.
Art board was replaced with 6mm plyboard, simple magnetic studs replaced with metal hinges and a solid “captain’s cabin” hook lock. This is the new door closed – I still have the hinges and lock to paint in brass.

So last night I left the door closed, and at 7am this morning R came down to find this.

Not only had Saphy opened it, but she had gone out and we think caught a mouse which she has lost in the drawing room. We have no absolute evidence of this but she is suspiciously interested in a small crack in the skirting in there (very Samuel Whiskers).
So the cat door is now getting a full on sliding bar lock. J suggested a chain over it, but I suspect this would just cause her to spend the night banging it open an closed.
I am a highly evolved human with power tools. I will defeat this cat…
