Some cakes

I made some cakes for a concert at St James Church today.

First of all I made a rich chocolate fudge slice with walnuts on top.

Then I made some lemon fairy cakes.  The candied peel on the top is home made.

I then thought (and this only came to mind because they mentioned that anyone baking for the event had to give a list of ingredients in case someone had an allergy), that I would also make something with no allergens and which was also vegan (the two things only partially overlap).  So I made a raisin and apple slice with oats and gluten free flour.  My sister in law who is a vegan tells me (and I can well believe her) that it is very hard when there are no cakes she can eat.  This is the vegan cake.

Correct me if I am wrong here, but compared to the other two it doesn’t look that appetising, and although it tasted ok it wasn’t what I would describe as a tasty treat.  It definitely had a “I’m healthy” feel to it, which to my mind does not go with a Market Day concert.  So I didn’t bring it.

The concert was quite good but I had to go on my own because R was at his sister’s and J had to stay home because (believe it or not) my new passport was getting delivered and someone had to sign for it.  I now have a real genuine blue British passport with King Charles’ name on it.  I also have a rather better photo than last time (not that that would be saying much).
