First Day of Mousemas – A reflection on things past

Saphy cat here.  I am saphy.cat on Instagram and you can also contact me on saphy.cat@outlook.com. I haven’t got a mobile phone yet but I am working on the humans on that front.

As a humble reflection for Mousemas, I would like to compare where we used to live, with where we are now.

Lochgoilhead looked a bit like this around this time of the year.  It was cold.  And wet. And often both

Whenever you went outside there were things like this

And this

And worst of all this

The humans had also brought an intruder cat into our house.  He was big and black and scary – he stole our food and chased us.  Once when the humans weren’t looking I also think he may have sexually assaulted me, although I am not too sure as I was trying to claw the shit out of him at the time.  Anyway, we girls did not like him.

Another complaint we had was that treats were thin on the ground and often ran out.  The humans gave the spurious reason that there was only one ASDA order a week and it was an hour’s drive to the nearest shop, but we were not buying that as a justification.  And lastly – there were no stairs!  We did not realize how deprived an existence we were living because we did not know stairs were a thing, but there is no place more delightful to play and lurk.  And all those years, those wasted years…

Anyway, back in June our telepathic pleas must have been heard, because we moved here.  What a difference.

The sun shines nearly all the time here.

No strange creatures (I think I once saw another cat but I am not sure as it was running away at the time).  We have a beautiful walled garden where I feel safe – also it comes with birds (although the squirrels here are a funny colour and I am not sure whether I would like it if I caught one).

Also we have lots of stairs – two separate flights in fact.

So we love Castlebank House and we love Fife.  If the humans ever considering moving they can just forget it.
