Normal life resumes

Well that is me got my blog back from the cats.  I am not sure I am letting them curate it again – they were frankly a bit rude about us.    They don’t mention the fact that they did zero work over “Mousemas” and it was me that had to clean their litter tray up and mop up the debris after Amber had eaten ham + turkey + prawns + cream and been extravagantly sick in the hall (not on the new carpet thank goodness).

So just to summarise we had a nice Christmas.  Here are some highlights the cats did not see fit to include.

Our table laid for Christmas Dinner.  Unfortunately my turkey was not very good – tough and dry.  It was a crown from Donald Russell and I will not be buying frozen again.  The local smoked salmon and my famous sherry trifle were great though – so no one went away hungry.

Church on Christmas morning (St James, Cupar)

J’s hamper from the Walsingham Farm Shop in Norfolk.  With cheese from Tesco!

My Christmas Pudding – this was very good with loads of cream. I had bought some Bailey’s thick double cream to go with it but I thought it was a bit sweet.

Buck’s fizz and panettone on Christmas morning.  I have to confess to not liking Buck’s fizz – to me it is a waste of both good champagne and good orange juice.

Amber on my Mum’s bed which she wanted to keep.

Our turret room done up as a guest room (all the gym kit concealed behind a screen)

Me in J’s dining room just before consuming a Columbian feast on Christmas Eve

My cutest present – a glass sprout.  I always put little presents I choose myself in self-fill crackers rather than having the crap you get in commercial ones.  This year one of them was a super cute brussels sprout, but there was also a puffin and a sheep which no one took home.  So I pinched them back – I have quite a collection of things I have acquired this way over the years.

Our Christmas tree with all its lights on – it looked unbalanced the way I originally had it – so that is it with four full sets on!

And last but not least a Christmas candle.  I bought this months ago and it is scented with frankincense and myrrh.  Very appropriate to burn for Christmas in hope for happiness for us and all we love and loved.
