Naples and Sorrento
R and I are off to Italy next month. The weather is so foul at the moment that I have been planning our trip (and doing some craft things) rather than doing what I probably should be and working in the garage and garden.
We are going to Naples itself – with the big highlight being the Archaeological Museum with the fantastic Roman art. Then we are going to Pompeii, Herculaeum, Vesuvius, Paestrum, Sorrento and Capri.
The area is wonderful – I have been there before and it was great fun, but I can’t help wondering if February was a mistake. It was very cheap but I don’t think the weather will be much better than here. But we are tough, there is lots of good indoors stuff, and at least it means we will beat the crowds.
I have been learning Italian for 10 months now and have nearly finished the Duolingo course. I am far from fluent but I certainly know a great deal more than I did last time I went. Though as of course I knew nothing at all then (apart from some Latin!), that is probably not a great comparison.
