Getting on with the decorating
The dining room is a big job – and this is only doing half the walls as luckily the part above the dado is in good condition with wallpaper which (although it would not have been my first choice) is not awful.
Today amongst my other tasks I did the door, most of the skirting and painted the fireplace. I also painted the parts of the lower wallpaper which we are retaining.

Tomorrow I will do the wallpapering and finish the skirting and the frame of the built in display case. I reckon I will be halfway there at that point, but the worst parts which are the top part of the window frames and (worst of all) the beams in the ceiling are still to come. The beams are going to be genuinely difficult to do as the ceiling is very high and I will have to work right at the top of the ladder. If any tall men with initials R or J were reading this they might possibly contemplate helping me.
I am speeding on hard with this because spring is on its way and I need to do some work in the garden. And the elephant in the room is that I am starting a big piece of consultancy work next month which although it isn’t full time in the nine to five sense, is still going to be occupying a significant portion of my time. No rest for the wicked.
