Moo, Two, Barney McGrew

Today R bought me a surprise present from Maisie and Mac in Crossgate (one of my favourite shops).  They are three Heilan’ Coos and I have decided to call them Moo, Two, Barney McGrew.

I don’t know whether the famous Trumpton firemen’s rollcall – Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble, and Grubb is still known today or whether it is restricted to people “of a certain age”, but their names are a tribute to this.  Moo is the mum cow, Two is her placid and obedient daughter, Barney McGrew is the one at the end with dark hair who I suspect might be the rebel in the family.

It is funny what people keep as mementos.  Here is part of the mantlepiece in my study.

From left to right we have the photos and paw prints of our most beloved cats Tora and Schrodi RIP, then an Easter egg I painted for a competition which I did not win, then Gluck the pig I bought at the German markets in Edinburgh, then the registered office for ScotSTS Ltd which was our meal ticket to this house, the palm cross I got at St James’ this year, a music box my mum gave me and a silk fan I bought for a Chinese new year party.  So many happy memories.

Thank you R for another one to add to my collection.
