Baking
I am having a little party next week – hopefully in the garden if the weather is clement. In an effort to get as much done in advance as possible – today I made sausage rolls, vegetarian “sausage rolls” (note that these are cheese, onion, sage and breadcrumbs – not some disgusting vegan “sausage”), St Clement’s cupcakes and two sorts of scone (fruit and plain). The jury seems to be out on whether scones are best frozen cooked or uncooked – most sources seem to be indicating uncooked, but Mary Berry is my baking mentor and she says cooked. So these are them cooked.

As well as this we are having four sorts of sandwiches, Scottish tiffin, a gateau (Mary Berry’s Fruits of the Forest) and strawberries and cream. I need to go to Cairnie’s next week and get strawberries, plus raspberries to make jam to go with the scones.
No rest for the wicked.
