An Interesting Trip

J and I went to Rhu – but not by any of the routes I mentioned.  We decided to go to Lochgoilhead first to visit old haunts (this is where we moved from last year) and hopefully see our cat Lucky who we left with the new owners of the house.  So we headed up north and went along the A85 through Crianlarich and down through Inverary.  Atypically, it poured with rain until we got to Crieff, and then cleared into quite a nice day.

We stopped for a break at the famous “Green Welly Stop” (which R noticed is actually for sale at the moment).

Then we went into Lochgoilhead which hasn’t changed at all.  We did not risk our little Gertie on the track up to our old house so we parked at the seafront.

We had to laugh at the Highland free spirit who had decided to revise this bit of road calming.

After looking at the house (the new owners are still renovating but the parts they have completed are so high tech that it is well R didn’t come with us because he would have wanted to move back).

We took the A814 (the back road past Faslane) on the way to Rhu – I now fully understand why R was never a big fan of this road as it is sort of two lane, but also two narrow for two large cars at the same time.  Many years ago before the road was closed to HGVs, two of them collided on it, and R had to reverse several miles along it to get turned round – nothing like that to put someone off.

We got to Rhu late afternoon and had a nice Chinese takeaway.  J was so exhausted after his long day that he fell asleep on the sofa.
