Hill of Tarvit Mansion House
Tarvit Mansion is our local stately home and NTS property – just a few miles from Cupar but this was our first visit. We had to go on Sunday, because for some reason it is only guided tours the rest of the week and we prefer just to show ourselves round.
We really enjoyed this place – it is an Edwardian building and was obviously fitted out with what at the time were “all mod cons”. I took the opportunity of sharing all my knowledge (which actually is considerable) about the domestic practices of the period – I am sure R and J were suitable thrilled by this.

There was a lot of wisteria on the house – I have not had any luck growing this in Scotland (not even in Livingston which is not that far from here).
This rhododendron would have been at home at Benmore Botanic Gardens

The walled garden was lovely – but I have to say, not that different from ours!
