Fife Folk Museum

Continuing the theme of going out every day of R’s “staycation” today, R and I walked over to Ceres to see the Fife Folk Museum.  It is about 3.5 miles each way, and over a hill which is quite substantial by local standards, though a mere pimple compared to the mountains we used to have in our back garden.  J did not join us as he was working on his paper work (about bloody time too!).

It was a nice walk, and Ceres (pronounced as in “TV series”) is a very pretty village.

The museum is in some old weavers’ cottages, is run by volunteers and is completely free.

We started off with a cup of excellent coffee and a lovely scone (I am trying and failing not to sound like a TripAdvisor reviewer).

Then we went and looked at the museum proper which was packed with interesting stuff.  We both liked the case showing the diverse items you would have had to carry around 100 years ago to stand-in for your smart phone.

This bread board is very similar to one we had which was carved by my great grandfather.

This wonderful quilt looked very modern, but in fact was mid nineteenth century.

So a good day was had by all, and I will need to come out here again with R.
