Cookies

Who knew?  A “chocolate chip cookie” should be soft and squidgy in the middle.  A “Maryland cookie” contains the same chocolate chips, but is crispy all the way through.  When I was a child, the whole chocolate chip thing was quite new and exciting, but if we had been presented with a a biscuit that was soft in the middle we would have thought it was off.  All this type of biscuit that we had were the crispy ones and they were quite dark brown and came out of a packet – to be honest they were not that nice, although possibly better than the only others that were on offer.  Rich teas and custard creams mainly.

Anyway, it was my first go at the coffee rota in church this morning and I made some to take with me.  They were very good and went quite quickly – but possibly I have committed a mortal sin because I did not save one for the Rector and there wasn’t one left for her.  I hope this won’t be held against me at the Day of Judgement.
