Gardening

Gardener extraordinaire

During this last week I have not only spent many hours on my own garden, but also assisted in clearing up St Mary’s church garden in Ladybank.  As my third assignment for the week, today we went to Rhu and cleared our Mum’s patio up.  She is elderly and not really fit to do it herself, so frankly it was a right mess.  It was very overgrown (probably about 2 years worth), with loads of dead plants, and the lovely lavender had expanded out of its pots and spread all over the place.

So we took it in hand.  I pruned this lavender (a whole black bin bag full) – I am going to use it to make lavender bags.

Then we cleared up all the leaves and cleared the weeds out from between the stones (with a clever electric wire brush gizmo).  Afterwards it looked pretty great.

Next time I come I am going to bring some replacement plants.

However the whole point of this post is coming now.  I am actually not that fond of gardening – it is hard, back breaking work which always seems to be too hot or too cold.  This week I have also been badly bitten by some unnamed creepie crawly.   So I would rather be doing most things – writing reports, cooking, cleaning the house, plotting revolution – all the usual things I get up to, rather than gardening.  So now you know..

I do like looking at gardens and sitting in them though – shame I rarely get the chance.
