Some wildlife…
Walking along the side of the river, R and I saw this gentleman. He was motionless with his beak poised like a spear ready for any fish or frog to pass by and become a snack.

We used to get loads of frogs where we lived in Argyll, and in spring the herons would come out in force. It was quite gruesome watching them dispatch their prey straight down their throats – generally still wriggling.
When we got home, we encountered a different piece of wildlife.

In case it is not clear from the photo, this is Saphy having a nap on R’s bed, exactly curled into the space left by his belt. So Saphy curled up is a 36″ cat.
