Another stained glass panel

I made this for the upcoming Cupar Flower Show.  The category is “three items in three different crafts presented on a 12″ cake board”.

My offering is entitled “Which came first?” and features a decorated egg, a paper model chick, and this.

It is made out of cardboard and coloured acetate.  After a bit of trial and error I discovered that the easiest way to do this was a) print or draw the design onto thin card.  b) cut each piece out using a sharp craft knife and retaining the pieces c) This leaves the “lead” grid in black d) take the pieces from stage b) and use them as a template to cut corresponding shapes from the acetate in different colours – scissors is best for this.  e) Glue the grid on to a sheet of clear acetate – UHU is best for this (do not use mod podge as it makes the panes very cloudy f) Place the individual glass panes to to the grid, carefully gluing along the lead lines with UHU.  g) Glue another sheet of clear acetate to become the back.

This all gives a nice effect but it is a little time  consuming and easy to muck up (as I did with the mod podge the first time I tried it).
