The Minx
I went out to do my shift volunteering at the museum this morning (and had a very enjoyable cheese scone and coffee) – there was not much to do as we had a total of three visitors.
When I got back I briefly said hello to Saphy and then went to work at the computer. It was around 5pm when I noticed it was raining and I hadn’t seen her for a while so I went and called for her. Six pm it was pouring with rain and I still hadn’t seen her – I went round the top two floors shouting for her and then went all round the garden. No sign of her.
So I messaged J (yes – this is how we communicate because it is a very big house and I don’t normally go into J’s private basement without invitation) – “Is Saphy down there with you?”. He said she wasn’t – so I went all the way round the top two floors again – calling for her and looking in every cupboard and under all the beds. And then out round the garden twice – right down to the main road, in the garage, in the car (even though I knew there was no way she could be in either of those locations). I was really worried by then – so as a final resort, I went down to the basement to look myself. Into the basement lounge and the minx came out from behind the sofa – yawning and stretching.
In AD&D you have opposed skill checks – in this case Saphy’s Hide +150 versus J’s Search +2 Guess who won.
