Mega Maze

As I mentioned – we went to the Mega Maze at Cairnies’ for their Halloween spectacular.

It was very scary.  Deeply, scary but not really for the right reasons.  It was all beautifully decorated and very atmospheric on the outside, but once you got into the maze, it was full of screaming teenagers who had knocked down some of the corn stalk “fences”.  This meant that our traditional “follow the left hand wall” system did not work and we were quickly lost.  There were lots of corn cobs underfoot making the going unsteady, and soon I was very sick of it.  J had the the bright idea of using Google maps on the phone to point it back to where the car was parked, and we then were able to find the exit quite easily (we never bothered with finding the centre).

Then the really scary bit – the car park.  On the way in I had taken what looked like being the last spot and now an hour or so later, people had parked everywhere, including in the exits.  So pitch dark,  incredibly crowded car park with no lane markings or directions arrows, and thousands of screaming kids with lanterns, pushchairs, overexcited teenagers – etc.  I set out in the direction I thought was out, and found multiple people had parked in it.  So then I had to do a five point turn in an incredibly tight space – just as well Gertie is small or we would have been wedged in there.

When we finally emerged I sighed in relief – never again.
