R my hero

Today R did something he deeply dislikes and went right up to the top of the eight step decorating ladder to change some bulbs and put up a new chandelier style lampshade.  The lampshade looks wonderful – hard to believe it cost £35 from Amazon (and of course difficult to inspect it closely as it is 15′ up in the air).

Unfortunately, this light fitting in the dining room is a bit of a disaster.

It looks very inappropriate for the room and is about impossible to change the bulbs on.  I can’t reach it at all, and it is really difficult even for 6′ R.  So we have decided to have it replaced with something on a cord which will be easier to reach.

But R is my absolute hero for doing this as he hates heights.  He was my hero before that as well but it is worth saying again.

Note that I have not mentioned J in all of this.  He is also 6′ but my chances of getting him up a ladder are about the same as getting him to ride a bicycle – i.e. nil.
