Mowing the lawn

I got Rowley our Mowrator out of the garage for his first run of the season today.  He is a truly brilliant invention which R discovered a few years ago and he has saved us hours and hours of back breaking work.  Basically he is a giant radio controlled tank with mowing blades which you direct around the lawn.

Our Castlebank garden is about 0.5 of an acre and much of this is lawn, so realistically we would have needed a noisy, smelly, heavy and difficult to start petrol mower to do it in any reasonable time.  J actually tried it with an electric flymow just after we moved in last year and it took him three hours to do the front lawn alone.

Today I did front and back lawns in less than an hour with Rowley.  And the dark secret is – it is great fun!

The lawn still looks a little scruffy but I don’t want to cut it too short this early in the year.  I did manage to get reasonably neat lines however.

And then having done that I got back to working on the huge report I am contracted to turn out over the next six months.  Between that, the decorating, the general household tasks and the garden I am working very, very hard.  But as they say, no rest for the wicked.
