To the sea

I’ve been wanting to get out to the coast since we moved in (specifically Pittenweem) but with everything I have had on, I never seem to have had time.  But yesterday I submitted the first draft of my consultancy report to the powers that be, so I thought as the forecast for today was good, J and I would head for the seaside.  The idea was to park in St Monans and walk along the Fife Costal path to Pittenweem as there didn’t seem to be any parking there.

So sure enough the weather at home was beautiful first thing so off we went.  But about half way there, it suddenly started to cloud over, and before I knew it, it was starting to get really foggy.  I may have mentioned that I got a new car recently – well it suddenly occurred to me that I had no idea how to switch the fog lights on.  Luckily the fog cleared quickly so panic over (but note to self to check this for next time), but the sky itself stayed grey and overcast.  When we got to St Monans it was pretty miserable – no visibility and freezing cold.  So we walked a little way to a windmill and learned all about the history of salt production in Fife from some informative boards.  Then we went home.

Back in Cupar the sun was still splitting the pavements and we had tea and cakes (from Fisher and Donaldson) in the garden.

So not a bad day, but in future we need to check the weather at the coast and not presume it is the same as here.
