Doh!
Lidl (as you may have read) have just changed their loyalty scheme. So instead of the fun of having a free bakery treat, or saving up to get 10% off a big shop, they now just do dull points like everyone else. Hey ho… But we still had one 10% off shop saved up, and today was the last day for spending the voucher. J is very fond of things like this, and he had big plans for all the stuff we were going to buy (basically expensive non-perishable things)
So off we went in the car, parked and went to get our trolley. Hmm – they need a pound coin to unlock one – but no need to worry because we always keep a couple in the car. So back to the car we went but no coin. At this point we remembered that the coins were kept in the Kia which we sold last month, and we had never been shopping in Gertie (the new Aygo) before. Not only that, but between the two of us we had not a penny in cash to ask someone for change (you can hardly pay for your trolley with Apple Pay).
We nearly went back to the house to get one, but on balance this seemed idiotic so we bought one large basket of stuff – five bags full which we then had to laboriously haul back to the car which I had parked right at the other end of the car park (I must be channelling R here as he always parks as far away from the shop as he can manage as well). Tesco deliveries have a lot to recommend them.
When we got back to the house, Amber had a lot to say for herself. From the noises she was making you could definitely understand that we had not fed her in days and that she was going to immediately expire. This is the cat feeding area – the empty plate had been full of chicken breast when we left an hour previously.

Note the untouched pouch of Felix “Doubly Delicious” and the two full dishes of Royal Canine.
