Dundee

Another busy day of fun today.  R and I went up Dundee Law.  J was late so we didn’t wait.  We went by train as R does not like driving in Dundee, and likes me driving in Dundee even less.

It is quite a walk from the train station, but pleasant enough, particularly when you get off the streets and on to the dedicated path to the summit.  I was quite pleased that we managed it 14 minutes quicker than the advisory time of 49 minutes which was signed posted for it.  There were some cracking views from the top, although the weather was unfortunately a bit cloudy.

We met J at the station in Dundee.  He could not find us because very foolishly instead of going into the perfectly nice Costa, we had paused at the station coffee stand and bought a completely inedible croissant and a tasteless coffee. Having said this, when the train came, J consumed both of mine with alacrity.

Then we went to Broughty Ferry and bought a new oven.  More on this next week when we get it fitted.   We had a pub lunch – it was nice enough, but my fish pie was so huge as to be a big off putting – it was enough for at least three people.

After lunch we went to the Castle Museum.  By now it was cold and windy so it was nice to get inside.  The museum is quite interesting – but it is on six floors, each connected with a tortuous spiral staircase with nothing but a thin rope as a handrail.

I managed all this with only a few twinges from my foot – which goes to show that I have improved a lot from this time last year when I did not go up the Wallace monument because I was concerned about the spiral staircase.
