Greenhouse and Orchard
The Greenhouse in question is nothing to do with gardens (just for a change) but is a cracking little restaurant in a back lane in Cupar. The food is in general good, but the Sunday roast is very very good and J and I had it today. R had fish and chips, but then R always has fish and chips apart from when he has a burger.
To walk off some of the food (and the bottle of wine), we walked back through the community orchard and along the river. The trees in the orchard are free for anyone to pick – but I will not be getting any from there. This is because our six trees are laden with fruit and this year I am resolved to make a better job of putting it to use than I did last time when quite a lot of it went to waste. I am going to peel and chop the apples and then freeze them – that way they actually get used during the course of the year. I am also going to make pies and cakes, plus apple jelly from the crab apple tree.
All our fruit is apples (barring a single quince tree) – but I noticed in the community garden there is a pear tree. I had one of these in Argyll but it was eaten by a large red deer stag.
