A postscript to our trip
Two days back from our visit to Lochgoilhead and I received the following postcard.
“Sorry I missed you Mummy. I was busy patrolling my kingdom, although my new Mummy thinks I was in a food coma somewhere, as Linda (note from M, this is the lady in the house across the river) leaves me lots of treats. My favourite is sausage roll. I need my treats as apparently I am too rotund and am on a diet since you left. I’m a bit more sleek now, but still handsome. My new Mummy thanks you for the lunch which they enjoyed. I have two new brothers which I’m getting used to. The black and white one tries to play with me and I’m starting to play a bit. It’s not as good as being out and about though. Hopefully I’ll get to see you next time and you’ll see how handsome I am.
Love
Lucky
PS Bring treats so I don’t waste away.

This sounds just like the Lucky we knew – although I wasn’t aware that he was such a fluent writer. Here he is from the evening of the day I drove over a hundred miles to see him in vain – scruffy as ever.
