Scouts and Apples

Last year I processed as many apples as I could manage, plus gave away loads in drips and drabs.  Still we ended up composting many of them (that is, putting many of them in the brown bin).  This year I was a bit more assiduous in my efforts to find someone that wanted then,

So today the Enterprise Scouts came and took all that was left of the eaters.  In two weeks time they are coming back for the bulk of them.  These are a sort of “intermediate” apple – they taste quite sweet to eat, but also cook well into pies and crumbles.

The Scouts are taking them to a winery where they are made into cider, in exchange for a donation per kilo gathered.  So a good cause and far better than letting the apples just go to waste.
