Surrogate Birthday
I had a combo Halloween/Birthday celebration today for my birthday on Wed. Funny that when I was a child I always had a combo party – but it was with Guy Fawkes night because back then it was a bigger deal. We often had a party in the garage with hot dogs and things like toffee apples and baked potatoes done in the bonfire which were inevitably burned to cinders on the outside and raw in the middle.
We always had a big bonfire and loads of fireworks which were lit by my dad – he was rather “careful” with his money and would regularly do what you are told not to and go back to any recalcitrant ones which were just smouldering and relight them. This scared the shit out of my Mum but never had any very serious conequences.
Anyway – this was my Halloween table. The decoration in the middle is a “Day of the Dead” Skull which won second prize at the Cupar Flower Show.

Amongst other things we had a “Salmon en Croute” which turned out very well.
