New plan for front garden
I am really really sick of some of the garden borders. The back garden borders are full of plants, some of which are wild flowers (borderline weeds) and some of which are herbs and wild strawberries. This is nice at the back which has an informal cottagey feel – but at the front there are some rather elderly looking rose bushes, and not much else apart from bulbs and other spring stuff. This was all very well when it was spring and everything was bright with bluebells, but now they are gone, all that was left was lots of straggly daisies and wild geraniums.
So I have had a major clean out and removed all the dead bluebell foliage, plus drastically reduced the daisies and pulled up the other weeds. The primroses I am moving to a different bed. I have ordered a load of lavender plants and other assorted shrubs and I am planting these to make a fragrant hedge. R will be wielding an electric auger to make the holes (too heavy for me) and I will be placing the plants and then mulching everything over.
Hopefully this will look much nicer, match the plants currently on the front steps, and (critically) reduce the sheer amount of labour in weeding some of these areas.
So we are waiting for the plants to turn up – while we are doing that we went for a walk and I snapped a nice view over the roofs of Cupar.
