Must be a proverb in here somewhere

I don’t know whether this should be “God will provide”, or “Consider the lilies…” or even “A sower went forth to sow…” – but something like that.

Back in June, I took some cutting from one of our many lavender bushes.  I dipped them in hormone rooting gel, I potted them careful in compost, I watered them daily, and in the end I planted them out in beds.  About 50% of them survived.  Today I was weeding the drive and what did I see but this….

A self-seeded lavender.  The picture is actually not the best example – because there were 10 of them dotted about, some of them quite a bit bigger than this.  They had self seeded with no help or attention from me.  So because we can’t have bushes in the middle of the drive, I transplanted them into beds – they seemed to have a good root system so I hope they will be fine.

And then this…  A few months ago I mentioned on this site that we had a dead tree that R cut down with his chainsaw.  I said how sorry I was because it was a “Handkerchief Tree” and they are very beautiful.  Anyway this tree was about 25 feet tall with all its branches completely dead apart from one twig that had a couple of leaves still on it – this I tried to take a cutting from, but to no avail.  Today I noticed the stump of the tree.

It is completely covered with new leaves and shoots.

So I am sure this should be a parable.
