Gardening

Another hard day’s work

In the garden and kitchen.

I have never expected any help in the kitchen so fair enough that I don’t get much.  R is not too bad in that he puts the dishwasher on from time to time and even deigns to cook a very occasional meal.  One day I may even train him to put things away in approximately the right places.  J is useless – I am not sure he has ever helped me since we lived here – and the last meal I remember him cooking for me was about 20 years ago.

Moving right on to the garden.  J is useless here as well – or let me elaborate.  When he gets his backside into the garden he is great – hard working, patient and thorough.  But here’s the problem – getting him there is nearly impossible.  Any little excuse, a drop of rain, a twinge in his back or he is just “not feeling it” and he vanishes off to play computer games.  Nearly a month ago he promised me he would do 10 hours a week in the garden over the growing period – and in three weeks (I will let him off the one we were on holiday) he has managed four hours in total.  So I had a nice enough time today and filled another two 90l bags with green waste – it was a lovely day and the bees were out on the flowers in force.

The herb/vegetable plot is looking good too.

But together with all the other stuff I have on – this is too much.  I have decided to see what I can do about getting a part time gardener.
