Cauliflowers

What is it with the size of cauliflowers?  On the whole they are disappointingly small, but from time to time you get an unnaturally huge one.

I do not know if I have captured the sheer magnitude of this beauty but it is about the size of a sofa.

As against that, I bought some smoked mackerel to make kedgeree – I did not look at the weight of what I was ordering, but I assumed it would be a decent amount as it cost £6.95.  It was not a decent amount – it wouldn’t have fed an anorexic three year old.  So the kedgeree was light on the fish, heavy on the mushrooms.

More gardening today – I am already sick of it.  I also bit the bullet and bought some fence posts as our front fence is drooping and needs shored up.  It then has to be creosoted (or whatever substance our lords and masters permit us to use for fences these days), and this needs to happen before the vegetation grows up too much.  So next week.
